Whatever media you use to market your business, you’ve got a few seconds, at most, to get your message across to a potential customer. So make sure that message comes across loud and clear.Put yourself in your customer’s shoes. Check out other adverts where you’re advertising. Which ones work for you? Check out Cambridge Creative Media's hints and tips for advertising below....
1. Grab them with the headline.
A snappy headline that gets your message
across will attract readers.
2. Focus on the benefits.
Tell readers why they should use your
product or service. ‘Save time and money’
is the kind of thing that works.
3. Keep it real.
If you make a claim, make sure you can
back it up.
4. Keep it short.
Don’t be tempted to cram in too much.
Loads of words and clutter puts readers off.
5. Surprise people.
To get people interested, tell them
something new.
6. Be reassuring.
If you are a member of a professional body
or Trade Association, put it in your advert.
7. Make it easy to get hold of you.
Addresses, phone numbers, web URLs and
email addresses should be easy to read.
8. How does it look?
Your advert should match your company
image. So whether you’re a premium supplier
or fiercely competitive, the advert’s design,
language and images should all work
together to give customers a good idea
of the kind of business you have.
9. Use an expert.
If you’re not sure about your skills as a
designer or copywriter, how about getting a
professional to give you a hand? Check with
the media you’re advertising with – they can
often help. At Yell we can design your Yellow
Pages advert for you.
10. Check it. Then check it again.
Mistakes can happen. So it’s worth doublechecking
everything. You don’t want the
wrong phone number in your advert.
